Whenever I travel I like to seek out local kitchen shops, antique shops and flea markets. Of course I always assume there will be a spot somewhere in the kitchen that will fit a tiny (wasn’t really that small) ceramic, dip-dyed pot made in India to keep…um salt? Why not. I can’t help it. I love kitchen things. Here are some of my favorite spots in New York City.
Whisk
I am in love with this shop near the Flatiron Building/Madison Square Park. So in love that I declared I’d live in the back room that’s dedicated to baking. Upon walking into the shop, this teal-colored nook against exposed brick caught my eye. All the white ceramics pop against the lovely blue. I’d say Whisk’s kitchen assortment is somewhere between Williams-Sonoma and Sur la Table. They have the core items and additional accessories, but not quite as extensive as in Sur la Table.

Update 1/5/2015: While still a big fan of the show, I will no longer be updating these pages with product info. The Food Network page, Giada at Home Set List is a great resource for searching her show props and products.
I just saw the Happy Holidays episode which is #3 in Season 5. I’ve definitely noticed a few changes in her decor. I love the little rainbow drawing on the back wall. Perhaps from Jade? The Chilewich Ray Tray that held all her produce has been replaced by a beautiful ceramic white four-tiered stand. As always, if any of you viewers spot items, feel free to post in the comments!
The shelf above the window is a bit more whimsical and fully blue-toned whereas she started out Season 1 in green. I immediately noticed these beautiful glass candy dishes that are like mini versions of apothecary jars. The round shape makes them unique. The Food Network site has been great about updating it’s set list sources and I found this there.

When Amy Atlas announced on her blog in the fall of 2010 that she’d be writing a book I immediately thought “she has to come to San Francisco for her tour.” Nevermind the fact that the she hadn’t even begun to write yet, I just knew Williams-Sonoma would be the perfect fit for hosting a book tour and of course, I wanted to meet her in person

I have found inspiration to start a cake stand collection. Is this not the mother of all cake stands?
I recently watched a re-run of Martha Bakes on the Hallmark Channel. It was an episode on cookies and Martha used this grandiose cake stand for displaying.
