You can find me wherever the butter is. 🧈🧈 The restaurant goes through approx. two mottes de beurre Bordier (mounds of butter) each day. It’s “self-service” along with the jar of cornichons. Tempting to fill up on these snacks, but there is an entire menu of bites to choose from, printed on placards with photos, hanging from the ceiling.

My favorite moment was when all the locals started boisterously singing along to a French tune playing in the background. Such a fun vibe at this standing tapas and wine bar in Saint Germain.

No one does a bakery window like Ottolenghi. It’s the most happy sight upon walking into the shop. My go-to is the financier, which may not be the most flashy pastry but it’s tender and the perfect little snack.

Don’t need an occasion to have cake. 🍰 Critique on the 6” mango yuzu chantilly. This particular Whole Foods was generous with the filling. I would like a greater amount of cake, which seems to be more balanced in the larger 8” size that I’ve tried before. Also, the little mango coulis dots on top are yummy. I want more of that, maybe swirled with the yuzu filling. But otherwise, solid bake.

HONEY BUTTER TOAST 🍯🧈🍞 At first glance it might not look like much but it’s so delightful to eat. Fluffy house made Japanese milkbread in a glistening, crisp, caramelized honey crust. Swipe for the crunch. It’s the signature item at Arôme. Several batches are made throughout the day so the toasts stay crispy.

Opéra Garnier ✨🕯️ is one of my favorite mo

Opéra Garnier ✨🕯️ is one of my favorite monuments in Paris. The theatre house inspired Phantom of the Opera. The underground “lake”, where no one, not even employees have access to, became the phantom’s lair and the auditorium’s chandelier played a major role. No spoilers. 😘

It’s as opulent as Palace of Versailles, but on a smaller and more manageable scale, plus there are considerably fewer crowds.

There’s a 1.5 hour guided tour or self-guided option with audio guide. I’ve done both. The guided tour was very informative and it really made me appreciate the history and architecture. If you prefer to do it on your own, the audio guide is easy to follow. I did it at leisurely pace for about 2 hours.

Also, you can watch an opera or ballet here. I would love to experience that on a future trip.

Tip: This is a fantastic activity on a rainy or super hot day. I did the latter on a particularly humid day.

Worth every euro. 😘 E. Dehillerin has approx. 300 pieces in copper. ✨ I loved reading all the comments about what you’ve bought at the shop. Some of the interesting purchases people mentioned:

copper turbotiere (for cooking fish)
paddle for stretching cheese
gaufrette knife (for waffle cut)
prosciutto tongs
tamis (flat-bottomed sieve)
copper pan for Pommes Anna
asparagus servers
plates for mussels

They really do have everything!

Do you keep a chocolate chip cookie dough stash in your freezer? 🍪 I put the chilled dough balls into a reusable bag and vacuum seal it to keep the dough from drying out, plus makes for more compact storage in my fridge.
